Jumping: Lyon: World Cup: MEREDITH AND CHECKMATE STEAL THE LIMELIGHT AT LYON by Louise Parkes

Germany's Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and Checkmate won the third leg of the 2010/2011 Rolex FEI World Cup™ Jumping series at Lyon, France today. Meredith is pictured being presented with a Rolex watch by Anthony Schaub, Rolex.

Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum recorded Germany's third consecutive victory of the 2010/2011 Rolex FEI World Cup™ Jumping season when topping the line-up at Lyon in France this afternoon following a great performance from Checkmate. And it was a very special victory for the multiple-champion who most recently helped the German team to gold at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ in Kentucky, USA.

The Double World Cup Champion and recent World Four-in-Hand Champion won the first competition of the season in Hannover, finishing ahead of Hungary’s József Dobrovitz and IJsbrand Chardon from the Netherlands.

Isabelle Werth (GER) took another long stride towards the Reem Acra Dressage World Cup Final in Leipzig, Germany by winning today's Lyon France CDI5*.

Werth -- fresh from her win of the CDI5* in Odense Denmark on Satchmo -- and Warum Nicht FRH topped the leader board in Lyon, France CDI5* World Cup Qualifier with a score of 72.936.  Second place, by a hair's breath, went to fellow German Ulla Salzberger and Herzruf's Erbe. Erbe, newly returned to competition from an injury,  took Salzgerber to a score of 73.085 - the only other pair to break 70 percent. Beatriz Ferrer-Salut of Spain and her horse Faberge finished in third place on a score of 69.617.

The first day of the Bates Australian Dressage Championships has come to an close. With nearly 250 horses from around Australia stabled in the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, the Centre is getting busier by the hour with riders, strappers, dressage enthusiasts and, of course, the obligatory canine pet.

Lexington, KY- On a blustery fall day the USEF National CCI1* Championships concluded with some of the United States' best up-and-coming combinations contesting the show jumping phase. Champions were crowned across four separate divisions at the competition that was held in combination with the Hagyard Midsouth Three-Day Event and Team Challenge at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Germany's Andreas Dibowski dominated the 25th World Eventing Championship for Young Horses, staged at the Haras Nationaux du Lion d’Angers, France from 21 to 24 October.

The German Olympian and his much-admired stallion Mighty Magic (Mytens XX/Heraldik XX) which finished second in last year’s 6 year-old class, returned to take the coveted 7 year-old title with a convincing victory. For good measure a clear round in the final jumping phase secured second place with Butts Avedon, who like Dibowski's 2010 Badminton runner-up ride Euroridings Butts Leon is also sired by the WBFSH top ranked stallion Heraldik XX.  This was a dream result for the 44-year-old from Dohle in Lower Saxony.

Jumping: World Cup: Leg Three - Lyon - by Nan Rawlins

On Saturday, October 31, 2010 the third leg of the Rolex Jumping World Cup competition will be held in Lyon France. 

Beginning at 2:30 p.m. (8:30 a.m. Eastern Time) in what are considered by many to be Lyon's ideal technical conditions, top competitors will gather to decide who moves on to the next World Cup leg in Verona Italy. Considered the toughest, the European League will qualify the most riders (eighteen)  for the Rolex World Cup® Finals in Leipzig Germany April 27 - May 1, 2011.

“I’ll be the one hiding in the corner, sweating all day,” said Stark with a laugh. “To be honest, you feel pretty ill with anxiety the entire day, until the last horse is home safe.”

It was girls' day out in France as the Hanoverian mare Mrs Medicott  gave Sweden's  Sara Algottson-Ostholt a ride to the top of a decidedly feminine heap in the Mondial du Lion CCI1* Championship for 6 year-old horses. Jumping clean and turning in a final score of 41.70 placed the pair one point ahead of their nearest rival, Great Britain's Nicola Wilson and the Irish Sport Horse, Annie Clover.

There was a wave of clean jumping at this weekend's Mondial du Lion CCI2* with the top four out of five competitors finishing on their dressage scores.

Germany's Andreas Dibowski proved he knew how to get the job done, taking both first and second place in the  CCI2*.  Dibowski  and the Holsteiner Thoroughbred cross stallion Mighty Magic finished on their dressage score of 43.50 penalty points to win the Mondial du Lion  CCI2*  for 7 year-old horses.

Germany's Christian Ahlmann and Taloubet Z showed their world class mettle by taking their second Rolex World Cup Qualifier in as many weeks.  After taking last week's Rolex Qualifier in OsloThe seemingly invincible pair moved on to Helsinki, taking both the Grand Prix and the World Cup Qualifier.

Dressage: Helsinki: Pether Markne (SWE) Dressage Grand Prix Winner

 Swedish Pether Markne won the International Dressage Grand Prix Class late on Saturday night with his horse Grosso’s Erbe with 66,255. Swedish Per Sandgaard and Lomumba Havdal came second with the result 64,553. Finlands Alexandra Malmström with MD Waterford was third with a well performed program in 64,553.

Jumping: Penn National: Grand Prix de Penn Results

Harrisburg, Pa. - October 23, 2010 - Defending champion Rodrigo Pessoa of Brazil reclaimed his title winning the $75,000 Grand Prix de Penn National, an FEI World Cup Qualifier, the finale of the 65th annual Pennsylvania National Horse Show.  He was victorious aboard HH Ashley, the entry of Double H Farm, with a jump-off time of 50.37 seconds, and although there were no jumping faults, the pair did have one time fault.

Harrisburg, Pa. - October 23, 2010 - Tiger Lilly II and Nikon's Prima Donna, both mares recently imported from Europe, triumphed over the competition to clinch year-end North American League (NAL) titles on the final day of the 65th Pennsylvania National Horse Show (PNHS).

Victory for Denmark's Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein on Digby with 73,319% the Grand Prix in Reem Acra FEI World Cup qualification at JBK Horse Shows in Odense Congress Center, where the 15 best go on to the Freestyle Sunday october 24th. In 2nd place came Isabell Werth from Germany on Satchmo with 73,149%, and 3rd place went to Hans Peter Minderhoud from Holland and Ips Tango with 71,745%.

Jumping: Helsinki: Grand Prix: Christian Ahlmann GER and Taloubet Z Take the Porsche Grand Prix

 Germany's Christian Ahlmann won the 160 centimetres Porsche Grand Prix with Taloubet Z  by a comfortable two second margin ahead of Sweden´s Malin Baryard Johnsson with Reveur de Hurtebise. Vincent Voorn from Holland rode Audi's Gestion Priamus Z to third place in 15 horse second round against the clock.

The FEI has today announced that all urine samples taken from athletes competing at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ have tested negative for prohibited substances.
The announcement comes just one week after the FEI revealed that all equine blood and urine samples were also free of prohibited substances.

Nina Fagerström from Finland beat a field of 40 fast international riders with her top speed horse Mouse owned by Stephex Stables in Belgium. The pair stopped the clock at 47.87 seconds in the 145 centimetres Grand Prix Qualification Presented by the City of Helsinki.

Harrisburg, Penn. - October 21, 2010 - The national anthem of Venezuela played tonight at the 65th Pennsylvania National Horse Show for the winner of the $30,000 Pennsylvania National Big Jump sponsored by M&T Bank, Pablo Barrios aboard G & C Quick Star 11. He bested an international field of 30 top riders from Brazil, France, Ireland, Canada, as well as the USA's best, to gallop away with victory in 34.16 seconds.
