William Fox-Pitt (GBR) is in line for a memorable double – and a big pay cheque - having leapt into a commanding lead after Cross-Country at Les Etoiles de Pau (FRA), the final leg of the valuable HSBC FEI Classics™, in which he also holds top position.

Temecula, Calif., Nov. 6, 2010 — So far, so good for

Katherine Groesbeck from Wilton, Calif., at the Galway Downs

International Three-Day Event. She is currently keeping control

of the top two places in the classic-format CCI1* aboard her

homebred Anglo-Arabs.

Eventng: Brannigan Takes Control at Galway Downs International Three-Day Event

Temecula, Calif., Nov. 6, 2010 —

Jennie Brannigan has called
the Galway Downs International Three-Day Event “a
homecoming.” The Southern California native has been living
in Pennsylvania while working for Olympian Phillip Dutton,
but she made the trip west with Nina Gardner’s Cambalda to
compete their first CCI3* in front of her friends and family. On
cross-country day the pair put in a clean and confident round to
take the lead in the CCI3*.

William Fox-Pitt playing it safe.

The current world n°1, British William Fox-Pitt, took the lead in Pau with the cross- country on Saturday that he started off without taking any risks: “I might have taken chicken ways, but my priority was to return home in one piece.” This strategy proved to be successful as the Briton took command in this class, thus strengthening his top position in the HSBC FEI Classics.

This is no news; women always were entitled to one’s say in eventing competitions. Once again, they proved their talent by taking the lead on Friday’s dressage test. But the biggest challenge is yet to come.
