FEI: Presidential Election: Quotations from today’s FEI Press Conference involving HRH Princess Haya, who was today re-elected as FEI President in a landslide victory.

Q. What plans do you have for the next four years?

“The plans that I outlined to the National Federations in my programmes are that I would like the next four years to be remembered for huge strides forward in the areas of development, transport and quarantine and related to development, I would like the FEI to be remembered for excellent service. There is much for us to continue from the work we’ve started of the old programme and it would be my biggest pledge to unify the FEI and to look forward to a future of growth and prosperity for horse sport.”

HRH Princess Haya Al Hussein, who won overwhelming support from the National Federations to return as FEI President for a second and final four-year term, has today announced her First and Second Vice Presidents.

HRH Princess Haya Al Hussein (JOR) was today re-elected as President of the FEI at the Federation’s General Assembly in Taipei in a landslide victory in the first round of voting. Princess Haya, who was seeking a second and final four-year term as President, won with 90 votes of a total 124 valid ballots.

Henk Rottinghuis, Presidential candidate for the Fédération Equestre Internationale, the international governing body of equestrian sport, today announced that he would be joined in the Presidency by two of the most respected names in equestrian sport. They are 2000 Olympic gold medallist, current President of the United States Equestrian Federation, Chair of FEI Group IV and FEI Bureau member, David O’Connor, as 1st Vice-President; and as 2nd Vice-President, the current holder of the office, leading New Zealand lawyer Christopher Hodson, who is generally perceived as a guardian of continuity within the FEI and has recently announced his willingness to serve Mr Rottinghuis.
