Dressage: Six European Riders Confirmed for World Dressage Masters Palm Beach

Wellington, FL - February 11, 2011 - Six European participants have been confirmed for the 2011 World Dressage Masters Palm Beach presented by International Polo Club Palm Beach, which will take place on March 9-11. In addition, Dutch Olympian Hans Peter Minderhoud, a member of the gold medal dressage team at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, will give a Master Class clinic during the WDM Palm Beach.

Wellington, FL - February 11, 2011 - The fifth week of competition at the 2011 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival continued on Friday with the $6,000 Spy Coast Farm 1.40m Speed Challenge, held in the International Arena of the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. Despite a rainy day, the riders came out in full force for the class, showing over a course set by Alan Wade of Co. Tipperary, Ireland. Out of 50 starters, Venezuela's Andres Rodriguez piloted Oreade Des Dames to victory with the fastest of 12 clear rounds.

OCALA, FL (February 11, 2011)--After a successful two-week Pre-Circuit and a short break, show jumping resumed at HITS Post Time Farm in Ocala, Florida on Tuesday with the Ocala Winter Classic, the first of six AA-rated weeks of competition. Silvio Mazzoni of Leesburg, Virginia piloted his own Remonta Habano to a decisive win in Thursday afternoon’s $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix, presented by Pfizer Animal Health.

Lexington, KY - The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) has recently received an invitation from the Organizing Committee of CHIO Aachen to send riders to participate in the CDIU-25 for the first time. Caroline Roffman (Wellington, FL) received an invitation to participate as an individual starter and the U.S. also has the opportunity to send up to three additional Under -25 riders to compete at this prestigious event.

The pair was the fastest of three clear jump-off rounds in the class to win over 64 starters.

Reining: North American Junior Reining Championship Added to 2011 Adequan FEI North American Junior/Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North

Lexington, KY- For the first time the Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North (NAJYRC) will add a Junior Championship in the sport of Reining in 2011. Reining joins the Dressage, Eventing and Jumping disciplines in hosting International FEI championships for Juniors and Young Riders. The three Olympic Equestrian Disciplines were expanded to officially include a junior championship in 2006.

Dressage: Briar is Sweedish Warmblood Association Stallion of the Year

Briar has been named the Swedish Warmblood Association's Stallion of the Year.  The seven-times Swedish champion has participated in three Olympiads and has ten approved son's.  Briar's sons have been successful in both  dressage and jumping as has been their offspring.   We congratulate  Briar's connections.

Maher and Oscar put down a winning time of 60.806 seconds for the win over Peter Wylde (USA) on Lipton De L'Othain (62.987 seconds) and McLain Ward (USA) on Domino (64.050 seconds).

Philipp Weishaupt and the stallion Catoki brought the German tally of wins in the 2010/2011 Rolex FEI World Cup™ Jumping Western European League qualifying series to a sensational six this evening at Bordeaux in France.  The 25 year old rider from Munich was one of 12 in the thrilling second-round jump-off, and he steered a line against the clock that proved too good for the rest and brought him through the finish more than a half-second quicker than French runner-up Simon Delestre.  Third place went to Beijing Olympic silver medallist Rolf-Goran Bengtsson from Sweden while Ireland's latest super-star, Billy Twomey, was less than a second off the winning time when slotting into fourth.

Top Eventing Coach Prue Barrett has been appointed National Performance Director of the Australian Eventing Team ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games

Barrett’s appointment comes after long-term coach Wayne Roycroft stepped down from his role as Eventing Head Coach in December 2010.  As an Assistant Coach to Roycroft over many major international campaigns, Barrett brings to the role a wealth of experience both as a coach and former rider herself.

Driving: USEF: Chester Weber's Four-In-Hand Team Wins Horse of Year Team For Combined Driving


Lexington, KY (February 3, 2011) – Combined Driver Chester Weber may be in the running for the most decorated Combined Driver in United States history, but he doesn’t just settle for winning awards. Weber is also an extremely active member of the United States Equestrian Federation and in January was elected to serve on the USEF Executive Committee at the USEF National Convention in Lexington, Kentucky.

This was the pair's third win in a row, also winning both of week three's 1.45m classes.

 G&C Farm Starts the 2011 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival With Success

Wellington, FL – February 2, 2011 – G&C Farm started out the 2011 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival with a variety of success, including victory in the $40,000 Surpass Grand Prix, CSI 2* during week 3 for Pablo Barrios and G&C Quick Star 11. G&C Farm is based in Wellington, FL, and owned by Gustavo and Carolina Mirabal of Venezuela. Barrios, who competes for Venezuela, is also based in Wellington.

USEF: This Week USEF In High Performance Disciplines

Endurance
 
The first American CEI of 2011 took place at the Dupuis Equestrian Center near Indiantown, Florida January 28-29.  The event featured two days of Endurance competition.

In the CEIJY 1* (80km), Forest Green and PL Nino took top honors in a time of 3:55:30 beating Kelsey Russell and Tryssta by 30 seconds to the wire.  In the CEI 1* (80km) Amy Atkins crossed the finish line in 5:03:40 on SA Zacks Comet, one second ahead of Daryl Downs and Blaze Star. In another desperately close race, Kathy Brunjes won the CEI 2* (120 km) on Theatric in a time of 7:19:58, one second clear of Melody Blittersdorf on Tektonic.

Lexington, KY - For more than 30 years, the Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North traditionally hosts championships for teams and individuals in the three Olympic Equestrian disciplines of dressage, eventing and jumping. In 2008 reining was included, and in 2011 the sport of endurance will be introduced for the first time.

The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) has today announced that two organisations will be joining the 16 independent equestrian member bodies that are already part of the BEF. Wellington, FL - January 30, 2011 - The 2011 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) concluded its third week of competition on Sunday afternoon with a $25,000 Suncast 1.50m Championship Jumper Series Classic. Held in the International Arena of the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC), the class was won by Paulo Santana (BRA) and Taloubet over a starting field of 31 entries. This win was the pair's first WEF victory.

Wellington, FL - January 30, 2011 - The FTI Winter Equestrian Festival, which runs through April 3, finished its third week of competition with a successful Sunday. The Coldwell Banker Children's Hunter Horse 15-17 awarded their tricolor honors among numerous other championships today.

Isabel Portela was all smiles on Sunday afternoon when she was named the Coldwell Banker Children's Hunter Horse 15-17 champion. Portela was aboard the James B. Pirtle Enterprises Inc entry, Millesime Du Valy, an eleven-year-old Selle Francais gelding.

Marcus Ehning brought the German tally to five wins in the 2010/2011 Rolex FEI World Cup™ Jumping series with a convincing victory riding Noltes Kuchengirl at the ninth leg in Zurich, Switzerland today.  In an exciting seven-way jump-off against the clock, the defending champion pipped British birthday boy, 28 year old Ben Maher riding the rejunevated Robin Hood W, while Australia's Edwina Alexander and Cevo Itot du Chateau finished third.

Wellington, FL - January 29, 2011 - Pablo Barrios (VEN) and G&C Quick Star 11, owned by G&C Farm of Wellington, FL, captured the top prize in tonight's $40,000 Surpass Grand Prix, CSI 2*. This was the second event of 11 in the "Saturday Night Lights" series at the 2011 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF). A crowd of 4,700 spectators were there to enjoy top-class show jumping and all that the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center has to offer.

Manna Pro Feed Issues Voluntary Recall in CA, NV, OR USA

A manufacturer has issued a voluntary recall of horse feed that was distributed in California, Nevada and Oregon because it may contain a medication that can be fatal to horses if fed at high levels.
Missouri-based Manna Pro Products announced Friday that it is voluntarily recalling Family Farm Complete Horse 10 horse feed, lot number 1006, because it may contain potentially harmful levels of the medication monensin sodium, or Rumensin.
The feed was distributed Jan. 11 through Jan. 21 to retailers in California, Nevada and Oregon.
No illnesses or deaths have been reported and retailers have removed it from their stores, but the company says customers who purchased the product should stop feeding it immediately.
