THERMAL, CA (February 23, 2011)—HITS, Inc. is pleased to announce that Lamborghini of Newport Beach, the only factory authorized Lamborghini dealer in all of Orange County, will once again be the title sponsor of the HITS Desert Circuit season finale $200,000 Grand Prix which takes place on Sunday, March 13 during Horsepower Weekend at the HITS Desert Horse Park in Thermal, California.

Horsepower Weekend will be the grand finale of the 20th Anniversary of the HITS Desert Circuit and will feature the $10,000 Pilatus Aircraft Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Medium Classic, the $25,000 California Horsetrader Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper High Classic, and the $200,000 Lamborghini Grand Prix, presented by Lamborghini of Newport Beach. In addition to these three big-ticket jumper classes, Horsepower Weekend brings with it more than a dozen Lamborghini automobiles, including the hugely popular Lamborghini Murcielago Superveloce and the new Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, two of Lamborghini of Newport Beach’s hottest vehicles!

“Lamborghini of Newport Beach is very proud to be a part of the HITS Desert Circuit,” said Donny Gath, CEO of the dealership. “We want to invite everyone to come say hello and experience the new Lamborghini models on display all week at the HITS Thermal.”

“It’s very nice to have Lamborghini of Newport Beach returning to sponsor our biggest weekend at the horse show,” said Tom Struzzieri, HITS President and CEO. “Their participation in last year’s Desert Circuit finale was a real show-stopper, and certainly added to the excitement and ceremony of the day. It’s safe to say that with the pairing of Pilatus Aircraft, Lamborghini of Newport Beach, and the $200,000 Grand Prix our exhibitors, sponsors, VIP guests, and spectators will be in for a real treat that weekend.”

The $200,000 Lamborghini Grand Prix, presented by Lamborghini of Newport Beach, will be the final of 16 Grand Prix qualifiers for the 2011 Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix offered at the HITS Desert Circuit. Last year, it was Canadian Olympic Silver Medalist Jill Henselwood who won the big Desert Circuit finale riding Bradon Construction’s Bottom Line. That win propelled Henselwood to what turned out to be an untouchable lead in the Pfizer Million Rider Rankings and earned her the coveted last-to-go spot in the Pfizer Million, which took place last September at HITS-on-the-Hudson in Saugerties, New York. Henslewood and Bottom Line finished the Pfizer Million in seventh place.

The HITS Desert Circuit Horsepower Weekend will take place Friday, March 11 through Sunday, March 13 of Desert Circuit VI. The weekend begins on Friday afternoon in the Strongid C 2X Stadium with the $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix, presented by Pfizer Animal Health, followed by the $3,500 Junior/A-O Young Rider Qualifying Class. On Saturday the fun continues with the $15,000 Copernicus Stables/PCHA Jimmy Williams Classic, Ronnie R.W. Mutch Equitation Championship and the highly-anticipated $25,000 Devoucoux Hunter Prix, which will be Thermal’s final qualifier for the all-new Diamond Mills $500,000 Hunter Prix Final.

The $10,000 Pilatus Aircraft Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Medium Classic will kick things off at 8 am on Sunday, March 13, followed by the $25,000 California Horsetrader Junior/Amateur-Owner High Classic, which also serves as the third and final European Youngster Cup Qualifier. The afternoon finishes up with a special Parade of Champions to recognize this season’s SmartPack Second Half and Antarès Sellier France Overall Circuit Champions, followed by the $200,000 Lamborghini Grand Prix, presented by Lamborghini of Newport Beach, which is sure to feature an all-star cast of High-Performance riders and horses.
